Every scar tells a story... Some are etched on the skin, for the whole world to see. Others are buried deep, so deep, only the heart can truly find them.
Dean Sutherland was the quintessential guy next door. Strong and dependable, with a heart of gold, he knew exactly where his life was headed. Until one fateful night at sea ripped away everything. Now he’s adrift, a man without a purpose.
Cora Carpenter thought she had the perfect life. A successful career, an affectionate husband and a daughter who adores her. But soon that perfect world is crashing down around her, and she’s in need of a fresh start. Moving to a remote town on the coast of North Carolina seems like the perfect plan. That is until she finds herself face to face with a kindred soul from her past.
Dean and Cora have more in common than either are willing to admit. Both deeply rooted in their pain, they can’t help but find hope in each other’s eyes and passion entwined with every touch. But can two broken hearts make a whole?
Will the scars they’ve bared to one another poison their happily ever after, or can love truly heal all?

Excerpt:
By the time I arrived at the inn for dinner, I was a goddamn mess. Sweat was running down my back from the heat, even after changing my shirt twice. I’d changed my mind three times on whether to bring flowers for Cora, doubling back to the house at the last minute to grab them after I firmly decided to leave them at home. When I finally arrived, I was a solid twenty minutes late and probably looked like a psychopath from all the sweat and the mangled flowers in my hand. But all of this was forgotten the moment the door opened, and Cora greeted me. “Jesus,” I cursed, giving her a once-over before she even had the chance to say hi. “You look insane.” “Insane is good?” she asked, pink staining her cheeks. I’d never seen her in anything beyond scrubs and shorts. Granted, this woman could wear a paper bag and be the hottest woman in the room. Tonight though, she’d dressed up, wearing a short, strappy number with tiny pink flowers dotting the fabric. “Insane is really good,” I clarified. TSIB-Teaser3 (1)

REVIEW

I liked this book. Dean is going through a transition period from the man he was to who he is now. It has been three years since the accident where he lost his arm but he still can't seem to find his place in life. Cora is in the same place but for different reasons. She's running from a past for hidden reasons in the beginning. She remembers the island from when Dean was a patient of hers and decides this is where she will begin her new start. Cora also has a young daughter she has to think about. I loved the aspect of Dean and Cora writing to tell part of the story. Dean was writing a recovery journal and Cora was blogging to keep her family and friends back in her hometown up to date on her life. I liked these two together. Dean and Cora found something in each other that helps them heal. They have to go through a little to get that HEA but the journey is worth it. 3 stars

When Coach orders him to get his head in the game with private yoga classes, Patch isn’t having it. There’s no way this tough Boston guy would be caught dead downward dog-ing his way to inner peace. Yoga instructor Margot Kowalski is over men. After yet another toxic relationship, she’s eager to forget love and focus on growing her business. Doing the Hellions head coach a favor by helping out a troubled player can’t hurt, and it might give her career a high-profile boost. But free-spirited Margot is soon charming the pants off Patch. Literally. Her sassy combination of sweet and sexy proves irresistible to the goalie. Before Patch can give into temptation though, he’ll have to confess his biggest secret:
He’s a virgin.

I love when books flip normal tropes on you. I was very interested in this one when I read the hero was a virgin. I also liked that it wasn’t just a thing; it was a conscious decision on his part due to things in his past. I liked Patch. He was very angry but I get why. I really liked Margot too. I love the Margot was very sex positive. She is not down with slut shaming and she owns that she has a sexual past and others need to just deal with it. I liked these two as a couple too. I think they made a good match. As much as I  liked about this one something was just missing for me for me to give it anything more than 3 stars. I still think it was a good story and I would recommend it to others.

Review: Savannah's Secrets by Reese Ryan

Falling for the boss, or taking him down?

Savannah Carlisle had the perfect plan. By infiltrating the Abbott family’s Tennessee bourbon empire as their events manager, she’d be one step closer to claiming half of the business they stole from her grandfather. Now she’s not so sure. Because sexy Blake Abbott, heir to it all, is simply intoxicating. He’s supposed to be the enemy. But after one long, stormy weekend, she’s pregnant with his child…

Available at all major retailers: https://books2read.com/SavannahsSecrets

  Review

Savannah was always told that her grandfather helped build the Abbot family bourbon distillery and that he was cut out of his fair share. Savannah is determined to get proof and her family’s percentage of the business. But she didn’t plan on meeting Blake Abbott. Blake has shut himself off from love after a bad relationship but he is drawn to Savannah. Unfortunately company policy means no office romances, but he just can’t help himself when it comes to her. The only thing is he will be hurt when he finds out her true reason to be there?

This book was really good. I love the aspect of revenge as the conflict in a romance. I get why Savannah did what she did and on a base level I thought Blake should understand also. He knows how important family is. I was really rooting for this couple to make it because they were really good together. I really liked the conflict in this one. Sometimes when I read books and the characters are being sneaky, I’m so nervous for when they get caught. No lie when Savannah did, I jumped reading it like they caught me doing something. The one thing I didn’t like was what Blake insinuated when he found out about the pregnancy. He was the one pursuing her heavily so he should have known that she didn’t plan that. I usually hate books set in a small towns but I really liked this one. Even though it was still very gossipy, the other characters mainly minded their own business. I liked that Blake’s mom acknowledged that she heard gossip about him but didn’t badger him or give him her 2 cents. Overall I really enjoyed this one. I look forward to books on the rest of the family.  4 Stars

Blurb:
My mom always said it was just something about the way he moved.
The same swagger Archie Valentine wore in the ring when he took his opponents down followed him like a halo everywhere he went. But make no mistake about it—he was no angel. He was like a drug. My mother was his addict.

I never understood it…how love could make you blind and convince you to drink the poison. Not until I met Memphis Delaney.

At first, it was the familiar form. He’s a fighter, built like a god from the past, the kind of man the universe doesn’t make anymore. His eyes hide a story, and every time I’m in his presence I want to keep reading him until I get to the end. And then…there’s the way he moves. His boxing is violent but beautiful, and his body is a seductive weapon. When he’s in the ring, he wears the stare of a man committed to the battle until his very last breath.

He could end me; turn me into her. Too much of him will leave me as a shadow, and I’ve lost so much of myself already.

But I have discipline. It came the hard way. Lessons learned, scars left behind, and trust stripped away from life.

I will breathe his air, but I won’t fall for a man like him. The only boxer who’s ever going to break my heart is the one who gave me my name.

EXCERPT:
I turn so our feet are squared and glance at his home that I think he probably knows I went through while he was gone. Somehow the money he paid for it seems not enough and too much all at once. My gaze shifts back to his, and he steps forward until the toe of his left shoe rests against the right side of mine.

“That’s a nice story, Memphis. I’m glad you found the bike, but I’m not sure what that has to do with me,” I say, my breath catching as his fingertips trace along my jaw, his touch so faint I find myself leaning my head to encourage his palm to rest along my cheek more boldly.

He brings his other hand up with more confidence, and I’m caught. The other option I had, to walk away, is gone. I never really wanted it, though.

Memphis dips his chin, hunching slightly to bring his eyes in line with mine. We’re so close that I can feel the tickle of his breath against my lips, and they tingle at the familiar. Each experience with him weaves itself into my heart in this way that terrifies me. This is how people lose themselves.

But I let it in—each breath, each sound, the smells and words. His story. I am surviving on the very being of him, and I think I have been for a while now.

“I was eighteen when I tracked down that bike. I knew it was mine...”

“I don’t belong to you, Memphis,” I cut in, my heart pounding.

His mouth forms a crooked smile. He holds my eyes hostage in silence for few long seconds. “Maybe it works the other way,” he says, his eyes moving over my face with a softness that feels intimate and vulnerable. His forehead falls forward until it rests gently on my own, and I let go of the grip I have on myself, exchanging it for fistfuls of his T-shirt. My knuckles run along his chest as I gather the material and close my eyes, his muscles hard from discipline.

“I can’t watch you get hurt. I can’t...”

His hand moves to my chin, and he lifts it until our eyes meet. Suddenly, breathing just got a lot harder to do.

“I won’t lose, Liv. I work too hard, and I study too much, and I will never be in a ring I’m not supposed to be in,” he says, and I breathe out what sounds like a laugh but feels like hurt.

“My fifty-year-old uncle kicked your ass in some display of alpha-male, teacher-student bullshit. I couldn’t watch that...how am I supposed to watch you step in with some guy who really wants to kill you? How am I supposed to kiss you knowing that your lips might never be the same after a fight. How...”

Memphis’s mouth takes mine before I can protest anymore, nothing like our stolen moment from earlier. His hands cup my face and his mouth moves possessively over my bottom lip, sucking it in and letting it slide loose through a graze of his teeth. He turns my head with a gentle nudge and kisses me deeper, and his hands fall from my face in long, possessive drags down my shoulders to my waist, stopping with his thumbs just above my hips and his fingers splayed out around my sides.

My hands roam up his chest and neck until my thumbs run along the roughness of his chin, and my touch seems to somehow make him hungrier.

“My god.” He breathes the words against my lips, restraint giving way…

Review

I didn't know what to expect with this book but I can say I liked it. I liked Memphis and Olivia even though she had to grow on me a bit. I felt she was very bitter but learning more about her family life I can see why she was that way. Memphis was such a sweetheart. I can say I really didn't see the connection between the two of them. Memphis seemed to latch on to Olivia very quickly in the beginning but I could tell his whole reality was looking for something and he saw it in Olivia. They did make a good couple and they found something in each other. I liked the side story with Miles but I didnt care for the epilogue. I just think I needed something more from this book but I will say I think it will be a good read for others. Overall I did like it. 3 stars

We spent a “week of Saturdays” together before you left, and we said goodbye on day eight, exchanging addresses at the last minute.

I saved every letter you ever sent, your words quickly becoming my religion.

But you went radio silent on me months ago, and then you had the audacity to walk into my diner yesterday and act like you’d never seen me in your life.

To think … I almost loved you and your beautifully complicated soul.

Almost.

Whatever your reason is—I hope it’s a good one.

***MISADVENTURES ARE STANDALONE ROMANCES THAT CAN BE READ IN ANY ORDER***
Synopsis
Straitlaced freshman Zooey Cartwright has arrived at UCLA determined to have a heck of a lot more fun in college than she did in high school. What’s the first item on Zooey’s agenda before classes start in two days? Losing her pesky V card. She’s definitely not looking for a boyfriend, so where can Zooey find the right guy to do the deed and move along without a backward glance?
At a party thrown by a bunch of football players, of course. Enter Tyler Caldwell. A beast on the field and off, cocky as heck, and often wearing T-shirts with sayings like “God’s Gift to Womankind,” Tyler is most definitely not boyfriend material. After a make-out session with Tyler leaves Zooey entirely unsatisfied, she is determined never to see him again. But her schedule lands her in not one but two of his classes, and it doesn’t take long before Tyler and Zooey have reached an arrangement for Tyler to teach Zooey exactly what she wants to know―and a whole lot more she never bargained for. Can Zooey surrender her body to this bad boy without giving him her heart, too?
